Lochsloy Acres Christmas Tree Farm

2011 Season Newsletter

Where has the year gone???  Hard to believe but if you’ve been in any stores lately, you know it’s already time to be thinking about Christmas.  We’ve been very busy getting ready as well.

Starting November 2nd, Lochsloy Acres Christmas Tree Farm will be open for pre-season tree reservations.

Why would you want to reserve your tree early?

  1. Convenience – The days in November are longer and less busy with holiday activities.  Plus the weather is often better.

  2. Selection – The early bird gets the best worm and the first shoppers get the best tree choices.  We have LOTS of terrific trees this year to choose from.  Plus, this year we only plan to sell our limited supply of nobles during the pre-season.

  3. Possible weather issues – Remember a couple of years ago when it snowed in early December and all the U-Cut farms closed?  Even if we’re closed, we’ll make arrangements with all of our customers with reserved trees to pick them up before Christmas.

When are we open prior to Thanksgiving?

We will be open every day but Tuesday from through the Sunday before Thanksgiving.  Or call us at 425-308-0355 if you want to make sure we’ll be here when you want to come out.

How does tree reservation work?

When you arrive, we give you plastic tape to decorate your tree.  You can also bring your own decorations if you choose.  When you find your perfect tree, you decorate it, bring the entire price tag back to the barn, and pay for your tree.  You will fill out an information card telling us who you are, which tree is yours and when you’d like to pick it up (if you want us to have it ready for you).  When you return for your tree, if you’ve forgotten your location, we can look it up for you.  To prevent someone from taking your tree, you will need to provide us the name on the information card before we allow you to remove a reserved tree from our farm.

What about selecting living trees?

Last year we tried allowing our customers who so desire to choose their living tree in the ground.   It seemed to work out fairly well so we’ll do that again this year.  We have tagged a variety of trees as appropriate size to be dug up for a living Christmas tree.  Our dug tree selection includes Fraser Fir, Noble Fir, Shasta Red Fir, Scotch Pine, Austrian Silver Pine, Serbian Spruce and Sitka Spruce.  Look under the Tree Descriptions tab for a brief description of each of these species, including the best environment in which to plant them.

Because we have to allow time for our professional digging crew to schedule and dig up all the marked trees, please plan to have your tree tagged no later than November 14th.   As usual, we will also have a selection of living trees available for sale after Thanksgiving but most years these sell out quickly.  We don’t want you to be disappointed.

Will there be wreaths available during pre-season sales?

Yes.  Since we want the wreaths as fresh as possible, we’ll start cutting greens and assembling them the first of November.  The selection of wreaths will increase as the month progresses.

Other tips for tree shopping after Thanksgiving

Assuming Mike doesn’t run out of time, we will have a small expansion to our parking area and a change in the traffic flow.  Hopefully, this will relieve some of the backups on the highway during our busiest times but probably won’t eliminate them.  Do yourself a favor and avoid these busy days/times:

  • Sundays after church – about

  • After Seahawks games – especially if it’s a good game

  • The first weekend in December – both Saturday and Sunday are totally insane.

Good times to come for easy parking and a leisurely shopping trip include weekdays (except Tuesday when we’re closed) from to and weekends between and .

You can "Like” us on Facebook.  I haven’t figured out the point of this yet but it’s there as an option.  I’ve posted photos of what we do throughout the year.

We will again be collecting donations for the Lake Stevens food bank.  We donated $750 again last year from your contributions and our matching funds.  The Food Bank has come to rely on our annual donation to help our neighbors in need.

We look forward to seeing you again this holiday season.  Thank you for your continued patronage.
